My experience with Sora

I’m a marketer. Not a graphic designer. Not a “creative”. Not an AI expert. But I wanted to try Sora, OpenAI’s new image editing and creation tool.
Spoiler alert: it wasn’t easy.
I tried several times, asked ChatGPT for help improving my prompt, and analyzed my whole process to learn from it.
It all started with a simple need: a new LinkedIn profile picture.
The issue? Nothing “professional enough” in my camera roll.
So I took an iPhone photo, white wall, natural light, no makeup, raw and real.
First of all, even without design skills, editing an image with AI feels intuitive and empowering. Then, I realized he real game changer is the prompt. And each tool has its own logic and “language". For instance, if your prompt is too detailed, the result looks artificial and not human at all. The key is to guide the AI, not overcontrol it.
In the end, I got a natural, slightly refined picture, and one big takeaway: AI is an amazing tool, but it will never replace the expert eye and artistry of a graphic designer.
So here is what I leanred about my experience Sora :
- A prompt in english
- Only keywords
- No specific instructions
- General keywords and instructions like : [shallow depth of field for realism] [avoid airbrushed or artificial appearance]
And here is the step-by-step of my journey.
